Choose your kind of soak

Whether you're traveling with family, seeking a quiet retreat, or looking for mineral-rich waters, Brazil has a spring for you.

How to reach Brazil's hot springs

Goiânia is the gateway to Caldas Novas (2–3 hours); São Paulo for Poços de Caldas. Domestic flights connect the regions; the resorts are driveable.

Where Brazil's springs cluster

  • Caldas Novas & Rio Quente — Enormous hot-water parks and resort complexes, a phenomenon.
  • Poços de Caldas — The historic Minas Gerais spa town in volcanic crater hills.

Best time to visit

May–September is the dry season and most comfortable. Brazilian school holidays (January, July) are peak, book ahead.

Good to know

Caldas Novas is gloriously over-the-top: waterslides fed by thermal water, huge pools, live music. It's family joy, not zen, embrace it. Poços de Caldas is the quieter, historic alternative.
