Choose your kind of soak

Whether you're traveling with family, seeking a quiet retreat, or looking for mineral-rich waters, Canada has a spring for you.

Canada's 23 listings are concentrated where you'd hope: the Rockies and British Columbia. Banff Upper is the classic post-hike soak, and the backcountry of BC hides some of the continent's most spectacular wilderness pools.

How to reach Canada's hot springs

Calgary for the Rockies (Banff, Radium, Miette); Vancouver for the south coast and Harrison. Many BC wilderness springs need serious 4WD on logging roads. Winter tire laws apply in the mountains October–April.

Where Canada's springs cluster

  • Banff & Kootenays β€” Banff Upper, Radium, and Fairmont in classic mountain settings.
  • Jasper & Miette β€” The Rockies' hottest springs, high in the ranges.
  • British Columbia β€” Harrison, Nakusp, and the far-flung northern pools for the adventurous.

Best time to visit

Winter for the full snow-soak effect; summer for alpine access to the remote pools. Fall (September) is quiet and golden.

Good to know

Parks Canada passes are required for the national-park springs. Wildlife is real, make noise on trails and store food properly. Remote BC springs can be a full-day 4WD commitment; check road reports.
